Lian Wilson Creative Director & Faculty

A certified Movement Therapist RSMT and Movement Educator RSME with ISMETA (International Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association) A Tamalpa Practitioner, Dancer and Assistant Researcher the Sidney De Haan Research Centre for Arts and Health, Canterbury Christ Church University. Lian is a respected & internationally established Tamalpa teacher.  

She served as the Assistant Director at Tamalpa Institute in California, as well as teaching on faculty from 2003-2005.  During this period she sat on the Tamalpa Institutes Board of Directors as Chair of the Marketing Committee, International Reps Committee and Overview Committee before being invited to serve as the Tamalpa Institutes President of the Board of Directors from 2006-2008.   She remains in touch with Anna Halprin, as well as the on going research and training developments being spearheaded by Daria Halprin at the Tamalpa Institute in California.

Lian leads and facilitates Tamalpa Life Art workshops/classes in various settings from private to community care, working with companies like ARRCC (Activities, Respite, Rehabilitation Care Centre); Kensington & Chelsea’s Mental Health Carers Support Network, SpeakUP charity for mental health users and other independent businesses and charities in Kent.

Her primary interest and passion is in the development of health and wellbeing in individuals and diverse communities through the participation and education of the benefits of dance and movement based expressive arts, notably through the Tamalpa Life Art Process ®.

A heart attack survivor & carer to schizophrenic family members: in her personal & professional life she draws upon her love of movement, creativity, nature and ongoing daily practice of living and sustaining a healthy life.
